During the season of celebrations and gatherings, Singaporeans get to vibe wherever they go with adorable Lunar New Year-themed public transportation.
To keep the auspicious spirit going, selected MRT stations, all MRT train lines, and bus services have received themed makeovers this year.
In collaboration with the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre, SMRT, SBS Transit Ltd, and Tower Transit Singapore, commuters get to experience a roaring good commute from January 26 to February 24, 2024.
The themed transportations were launched by the Minister for Transport, Chee Hong Tat.
The decorations feature key elements of the celebrations, such as zodiac motifs, festive food items, and interesting nuggets of information on the auspicious customs and common practices of Lunar New Year.
Here are the four stations with special festive murals:
1. Ang Mo Kio (NS16)
2. Boon Lay (EW27)
3. Maxwell (TE18)
4. Shenton Way (TE19)
Commuters will also get to enjoy daily CNY tunes from the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (新加坡华族文化中心), Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO), and more, through hear65sg’s “I Play SG Music” CNY 2024 playlist at MRT stations across the SMRT network during peak hour periods.
Here's a pro tip: Each line features its own unique design!
